Breaks Gmail webmail in Safari

Feedback Type:  Commentary

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

Gmail webmail now reverts to "Basic" view.

This is pathetic.

Then again Safari's support for Google services is practically non-existant as it is. Which is a darn shame considering that Google's CEO, Eric Schmidt is on the board of Apple...

Breaks Gmail webmail in Safari - SERBIAN--2008

Just click on "standard" view at the bottom of page at gmail and all will be fine...It happened to me also and I just changed to standard view with a single mouse click...And Safari works just fine with GMail here...

Breaks Gmail webmail in Safari - Tee

Okay, it looks like this update is probably not responsible for the Gmail/Basic view issue!
Gmail is apparently having this issue on multiple platforms.

I still stand by my general disappointment in Safari/Google for not fully supporting each other.

SERBIAN, did you know that the Gmail web interface is supposed to have integrated chat functions?? But they are not available in Safari! Also, rich text editing within Gmail is not supported in Safari either...

Not to mention that the docs.google.com service locks out Safari!!!

Wouldn't it be the other way around- that Google doesn't write its applications to operate in Safari? Generally speaking it is up to the Web site developer to make sure that their services work in the various browsers.
