Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

Ease of use quite good, nothing special to drool about... sorry but mac has a quite high standard for "ease of use", this is nothing special.
Quite poor documentation: nowhere is written that sms can be sent only to swizerland
Feature: maybe useful for swiss people, I don't see the usefulness for all the world. Specially 'cause it doesn't take in account prefixes to other countries, that is a quite compelling feature for an application of this kind. Phone operator have roaming connection with other operator of different country... I don't see the reason lo lock international prefixes in the app.
Another feature (for next releases) is interface with phone trough bluetooth to sync sms
Quality can't be fully tested, as not able to send any sms... but from the menus and what can be seen, is on the average

Is compelling to specify in the description the international sending limitation.

Recommended only to swiss people

As its name says, SwissSMS sends SMS using **Swiss** SMS providers.

The reason it can't use foreign providers for now is I do not have accounts for such providers so I can't write plugins for there providers.

Though, SwissSMS is opensource and I'd be happy if some Cocoa programmer liked the concept and user interface and would write plugins for their providers.

I will shortly write a doc on how to make plugins (it's terribly easy).

First the description reads "front-end to worldwide SMS operators' services"

Secondly "Swiss" is often used in the software utility world to mean 'all-in-one' a la Swiss Army Knife.

The description needs to change.

dranken, are you drunk(en)?
first of all this is a great app.
second it very easy to use! It plainly can not be easier!
third is says Swiss SMS. What part of Swiss don't you understand? also is says "SwissSMS is a Mac OS X front-end to SMS operators services in Switzerland." What don't you get there? Do you really need a "read me first" that says " this works in Switzerland and only Switzerland"?
Have it work internationally (for me at least USA) would be great.

Good job to the developer!

Actually, JJJ, the description on the front page of VersionTracker says "front-end to worldwide SMS operators service", note the WORLDWIDE part.

Even more, on the product page (as of today 11-14-07) it says "SwissSMS is a plugin based Mac OS X front-end to SMS operators services."

It doesn't mention it's only for the Swiss. And what about the name? People name their apps all kinds of crazy things. It doesn't necessarily mean anything. I think the previous commenters were justified in expecting it to work worldwide when it says worldwide in the description on the front page. Sheesh.

The developer really needs to put in the description that it is only for Switzerland so that people are not, through NO fault of their own, mislead in any way.
