Server Settings NOT Maintained

Feedback Type:  Troubleshooting Report

Contributed by: gnunnery Friday, May 25 2007 @ 07:12 AM PDT

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: YES

The update installs properly, the initial reboot is slow, but, otherwise normal. Unfortunately, not all running services are restored on a server. I cannot speak for them all, but, of the services my server was running, DNS and Web services had to be manually restarted. All then was well.

verify your launchd plists - sjk

You might want to check if services you manually restarted were permanently disabled in /System/Library/LaunchDaemons plist files. On my systems I found named (BIND) had been disabled in org.isc.named.plist. The preflight/postflight scripts only preserved the enabled/disabled state of the FTP daemon in ftp.plist.
