For those who have an interest in SuperNZB, it may be interesting to know that it has been updated several times since version 1.2.
It is now at version 3.0.3 for PPC and 3.0.2 for Intel Mac.
If you intend to upgrade to the newer versions, please read the upgrade instructions carefully.
The format of the preferences file for SuperNZB changed for version 2, and it will need to be converted, in order to work with the newer version.
A conversion utility is also available to download from the developer's website.
As for the price.
It would appear that TechSono have dropped the regular price to £40.
I quite agree that $40 is still a bit steep for a utility that is pretty much a one-trick-pony.
Admittedly SuperNZB does an admirable job of downloading from newsgroups, based on the information in a .nzb file. However, considering that software that does this and much more is available for less money, I feel the developers should either reduce the price, or add functionality.
Alternatively they could offer bundles.
My only real gripe with SuperNZB, other than price, is that it causes my system to 'pause' every time it writes a part to the hard drive. This doesn't seem to be related to any spike in processor activity, or even a helper application being launched.
This may be due to it being a RealBASIC application, but hopefully it can be resolved.
