Yes, unlike Disk Utility and SMARTReporter, my application looks at the individual attributes and determines a failing status. I've noticed that by the time SMART says failed, its too late to save much data.Thank you for bringing this up. It does raise a good point.

I'm running SMARTReporter and have read similar comments; I'll keep your app in mind. Will the full-featured version cost much more?Tuesday, May 22 2007 @ 06:11 AM PDT

No, the $20 will also get you a bunch of future feature additions I'm planning on adding. Yes, it may be a little expensive for what it does now, (though $20 is cheap to save data), but with the future features, I think its worth it. Among the future features are testing support, background monitoring, history data, and printing/emailing/saving reports.Wednesday, May 23 2007 @ 05:46 PM PDT

unfortunately the mentioned app is not as verbose in its output. I think this app is better for pre-fail-diagnostics.The underlying command-line-util shows exact states of the devices, much more than status "good" or "bad"
