Great application. Just superb, but what's going on with these crazy version numbers. Can't we just have a simple 4.1.7 then 4.1.8 or better yet 4.1, 4.2 etc. The way it's going I won't be surprised if the next version doesn't fit into Version Tracker's line length.

Here's to v4.1.8901.9205.9284.2968.1029.1029 Beta 10290491 ;o)

Version Numbers - flyinglow2

Dude, no $hit! Getting a little crazy with the version/build numbers. Makes one think it's still a beta & always will be a beta!

Absolutely! I'm sure Google have loads of internal build numbers during testing but they really need to start rounding them off when they do public releases. There's really no excuses for releasing software to the public with version numbers relating to internal build codes.

Another piece of software that endlessly irritates me with pointless version codes is video conversion utility ffmpegX. It’s been stuck on 0.0.9 for about two years but they keep going through the alphabet with after tags. 0.0.9a, 0.0.9b, 0.0.9c etc). Developers really need to have sensible public facing version schemes that make it easy for users like ourselves to differentiate between releases.
