Worked fine for me, it looks like. It correctly identified my 80 GB LaCie Mobile Hard Disk, design by F. A. Porsche, bought in August 2006. It then said "No update necessary (already at version 1.02b)". I am assuming that is true, and that no update is necessary.

Seems to work fine - Edwin-schemer

For those of us who complained, the detection of drives that don't need to be updated worked.
However, for my d2 drive whcih has firmware 1.02 (Oct 2004)
the updater correctly detects that, says it need the update, asks to unplug other firewire devices, but then does nothing.
It only allows me to change the icon for the disk, and puts up a spurious disk on my desktop (one that was mounted a dew days ago, which is now disconnected!).

I sent a message to La Cie about this and am waiting for a reply.
