Alas doesn't work at the moment, but this is a good idea - explain later... This version seems to complete the search process but the creation of the http server process fails. I'm unable to telnet localhost 65000 and get a response. The process is running (ps ax) and the socket is allocated (netstat -a -n | grep 65000) BUT no response!! As I said before, this is a good idea because it can be expanded to search and list useful (sorry mp3 people!!) files such as PDFs. System tested on is a G5 2.5DP/2.5Gb/10.4.9/ with Perl 5.8.6 (perl -v). Have had a look at the source and it all look good. Have tried with and without Apache running. Cheers from downUnder. When I get the expected result, this will be worth 5 stars. Great to see a Perl user. Will try it on an Intel machine alter tonight.
