Hanging update.

Feedback Type:  Review

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

I was installing 2.60 language update and the updater says:

"Erasing... This may take a few minutes."

"Please do not unplug the Garmin device during the update."

It has been a long time now. Seems hung. I fear I have destroyed the firmware. The C330 is in "Transferring Date" state.

5.40 installed just fine.

What is there to do but interrupt it and see what the damage is?

Well, I killed it and restarted the updater and reinstalled the base software and it seems OK. I don't recomment running the 2.60 language updater, though.

Spoke to soon. C330 no longer speaks to me, so it looks like I have erased the audio file. I'll try to apply the 2.60 language update again and see what happens, leaving it overnight, if required. ;-)

I had the same problem with webupdater and my Edge 305. The system hung with the same error messages and after 3 hous I gave up and contacted Garmin. We disconnected the unit and it turns out the erase was never executed on the Edge; so, I was OK.

I sent as much info as possible to the beta team and actually got a response back saying they were sending it on to the Edge team to evaluate. I'm waiting for the next version to come out before I try again.

FWIW, I have one of the first versions of the Edge 305 running the firmware that come with it. Thus, it's pretty far out of date.
