I installed YDL 5.0.1 on my G5 iMac (10.4). Yes, it works, but its very cumbersome. Maybe I just need to get used to a different operating system, but NOTHING is straightforward. Even finding and installing software is difficult. I was going to leave it on my machine just to play with it, but its killing me. Not long after coming out of yaboot (allows you to select between OSX, YDL, CD for boot) the cooling fans come on full blast and stay on full blast for as long as I'm in YDL. I couldn't stand it and removed it all.

You misunderstood. I admitted that I needed to learn something new, but the issue with the fans on my G5 iMac running at full blast keeps me away. If it weren't for the fans, it would still be installed and I would be playing with it and learning new stuff.Sunday, April 29 2007 @ 10:29 AM PDT

I had the same issue. Once booted into YDL 5.0.1 by fans run at fill speed as if they were in Open Firmware Mode. This is ridicously annoying & i cannot seem to find an answer from support sites. This very disappointing too cause I have YDL 5.0 running on my PS3 and it is great. Terrasoft needs to get it together and offer more complete technical support.Sunday, June 10 2007 @ 09:27 AM PDT

Yes you just need to get used to a different operating system, they have a guide online if you need help. Linux can be very different and you should not expect it to be instantly easy. It usually takes 2 weeks to get used to a new OS no matter what. Especially if you do not know anything about it and do not read the documentation.Reply to This
