This is a very useful utility, because I leave my headset for Skype plugged in all the time, want the sound through my USB headset when using Skype but through the internal speakers otherwise. This easy-to-access menu utility lets me switch the sound output (and input) without opening up the Sound preferences, so it is very handy.

You should be able to independently adjust the settings for Skype without this menu. As an example, when a Skype call comes in, my external speakers are set to ring, but bluetooth audio is automatically selected for a call.Reply to This
