I tried to update my virus defs using LiveUpdate, and it first said it was downloading only one 6.4 MB file, then it downloaded another file, then it changed to 3 files for a total of 19.x MB -- and it did not stick! I did this three times, and still it says my virus defs are from 4/4/07. I am getting really sick of this junk software.

Mine did the same thing with that update, I blamed it on trying to download it over a phone line modem. I saw where to remedy this situation, go to Symantec's website and download the update from there, not using Live Update. That worked for me, and after installing the download, Live Update quit trying to update the file, showing it current.http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/download/pages/US-NMC.html

Symantec AntiVirus definitions for the Mac has an occasional habit of doing this. My guess it is that virus definitions are not properly pushed to mirror servers so virus definition files downloaded have an minor error in the file versus the check file so when you use LiveUpdate it sees this minor error but continues to put it on you machine. When you check it again the minor error will pop up prompting to download again and again. Symantec should check their work more often to make that will take properly.Thursday, May 17 2007 @ 10:11 AM PDT

I've had that happen when my annual subscription was not current. The live update worked for me recently, defs are for 04/19/07, and it says they are current. But I do have version 10.1.2. Sorry.Reply to This
