The software sets the daemon as a startup item for the user with which you install it. This makes it unsuitable for use on an unattended server where no one is logged in. I suppose you could figure out how to get the daemon to run on startup (maybe with Lingon?), but it hasn't been worth my time yet and I feel like it's something the developer should handle.
