BTW sascha_77, we just noticed that you hadn't even tried the software. That doesn't give your comments very much validity.Monday, April 09 2007 @ 03:41 PM PDT
What the f++k? - WunderWerkz Software
Please note that while many people in the rich, industrialized West are happily buzzing along with their expensive G4's, G5's and Mac Intels, there are still a considerable number of people around the world who cannot afford the luxury of possessing such modern machines. Many of these people still work on older Mac models which only support earlier versions of OSX, or only OS 7 through OS 9. For these people, the FreeShare Client and Server Suite is a good, free solution. We agree that looks are important; and modern Mac software is known for its great looks; but appearance is not everything. Functionality-wise, the FreeShare suite, particularly the server, sports quite a few features which are absent from Hotline, Openline and Underline, and some of the other Hotline clones; and it does run quite well on Tiger machines.
As a side note, the FreeShare suite is based upon the Openline open source code, meaning Hotline 1.9.x, and not 1.2.3.
If you are not personally impressed by this software, and don't wish to use it, that's quite okay . . . but over 720 downloads of the server, and over 1,000 downloads of the client, during the past ten days or so, must mean that somebody somewhere must hold views different from your own. :)
