Ok, I'm confused. The version I have now is 2.0b2 and this is 2.0rc1. What the hell does rc mean?, really cool, runny crap, riot cop, raunchy c**t, really cute, radioactive cancer, rocket children, racy cleavage, romantic clash, roman coliseum, roger captain, rubbery calves, ready cupcake, well what. When something is beta it reads beta somewhere.

Now you just hold on there. - Jeff Mincey

RC means "release candidate." It's newer than any beta release and in fact it's just what it indicates -- it's a version which may (and I emphasize may) be ultimately the final release.

Some developers will issue several release candidates into the wild and then the one which comes back with the fewest known issues, (and assuming no show-stoppers among the issues) will be the final official release.

not one of the brightest souls here, huh? you ever heard about "google"? i for one (like millions of others) usually google the topic in question before i post crap.

in your case: enter "rc1" into google. the forth or fith result could have enlightened you.

Can't be the first time - Jeronimo2000

It surely can't be the first time you ran across the letters "RC" in a software's version number...?

RC = release candidate.

Beta is BEFORE RC!

RC = Release Candidate.
It's another way of saying: "We think we're out of the beta stage, but we're not quite ready to release as final, so we're releasing this one first. Pending any additional changes, this version will be released as final.

err - ray57

Release Candidate, once the beta stage has finished. You then get real solid versions.

RC stands for Release Candidate. First you have Alpha stage, then Beta stage, then Release Candidate stage. Then, finally, you have an official release.

rc stands for Release Candidate. This indicates that the beta testing has finished and barring any last minute bugs this is what the final version released will look like.
