DO NOT INSTALL!!!

I didn't mind the snoozy Intel version install and boot of the app. What I minded was that after it phoned home, possibly to look for a patch, it completely took over my CPU. Meanwhile the application was 100% unresponsive. After several minutes of maxed out CPU hogging and nothing else happening I had to Force Quit the thing to stop it.

I had installed 2.1 on top of version Intel 2.0 beta 3 with Patch 15. There is nothing in the provided ReadMe about needing to uninstall a previous version, and there is no way to do it in the Installer. So presumably this was installed properly.

Needless to say I am moving back a version to what actually worked. I'll try a new install again after this mess is cleaned up. :-P

System: MacBook Core 2 Duo 2 GHz, 1 GB RAM, MOSX 10.4.9.

Oops! Too late! - lkrupp

Ignored your rant and installed anyway. Works perfectly. So much for your "expert" opinion.

FLAME WAR! - zunipus

An asshole said: so much for my ' "expert" opinion.'

Sorry, but experience is what I wrote, not opinion. You made a terrible fool of yourself.

I am glad you got the thing to work. I still cannot. And my MacBook is running perfectly otherwise.

Again: BUGGY software. And if you read the NeoOffice website, they warn you that it indeed is likely to be buggy. Again: :-P

Your Experience Not Representative - Gib Henry

Sorry you're having the problem. I'm not disputing your experience, but I do assert that it isn't representative. We have 4 non-tech users in our office who have been using NeoOffice for over 3 years now, and none of them has had such problems with it. In addition, a review of the NeoOffice forums suggests that your experience is not wide-spread. All of which suggests that in your case, there may be some factor at work beyond just NeoOffice. And have you chatted with any Micro$loth Word users about "crash-prone"?! ;-)
