Are you in a position to know whether or not there'll ever be an actual AOL update for PPC's and/or an upgrade for Intel-based Macs? It's my understanding that one of the reasons AOL is so far behind on their Mac support is due to lack of support from Apple. AOL has some extremely irritating quirks that just never seem to get resolved (running OS X 10.4.9 but said quirks date back to release of 10.4).

More to come from AOL for Macs, but I'm not at liberty to discuss. There's no shortage of support from Apple, they're a good partner.

Thanks very much for your quick and encouraging reply. I've used AOL since purchasing my first Mac 10 or so years ago and really don't want to switch.

if there is any mac work being done over at AOL it's a LONG LONG LONG way off. There are no projects I can see, other than a video and toolbar, that have any Mac support. There are no new versions of the client or of AIM in testing. Not to say they aren't in development but to once again get people's hopes up is just unfair. Mac users have suffered long enough and deserve better. The only good thing I can say is that the service is free now. So I guess you get what you pay for! :-) Meanwhile AOL 9.0 for Windows, that supports everything from Win98 to Vista, even X64, trucks along! Yeah, a Mac OS X Client would be so much more difficult I'm sure.

There's more going on at AOL than you see. It's true that Cheshire is a test of new concepts for an OS X client but there have been recent releases: AOL Radio, an AOL Pictures client with a plug-in for iPhoto, and the AOL Service Assistant which set up Apple's iApps to work with AOL. You'll see more.

No big company ships fast but the wheels are turning.

From your mouth to God's ear! In addition to the long-standing problems I've been having with AOL, I'm experiencing a plethora of crashes since upgrading to 10.4.9., despite my usual routine of precautions, e.g., repairing permissions before and after downloading software, etc.
