I regularly have a problem where typing into a textarea is so slow as to render the browser unusable. (In both 1.0.4 and 1.1). In 1.0.4 I get a strange flickering effect on the caret/ibeam, and in 1.1 each letter can take a second to appear.
Otherwise the browser seems excellent. It is such a shame that the one flaw that I experience is serious enough to mean that the browser is unusable.

I've definitely seen the same problem on pages that also have an animated GIF. It is supposedly bug 54153 (bugzilla.mozilla.org), which is marked as fixed, but I have no clue when the fix is getting included in Camino.
Deanimating GIFs (or setting them to animate only once) works in the mean time; this page says how to do this using about:config:

the textarea bug doesn't appear for me.I just tested it and the typing in a textarea box on a form works perfectly normal.
I haven't looked at the code here but would imagine this is a textarea box also and typing is fine here too.
Maybe it is something else causing yoru problem.

IS the page you are on contain any flash heavy areas? Typically Camino will flicker it's eye beam for several seconds while a Flash app plays. I set my prefs to play the animations only once and it settles down.Reply to This
