After running the 10.4.9 update, the Eject key on my keyboard no longer works. I repaired permissions. I also tried the Combo updater. That didn't fix the problem.
So, at the moment, I start up Roxio Toast to eject (open/close) the drive.
Yes, at tad annoying. Hopefully will be fixed before 10.5 in some minor update.

Eject key doesn't work after update - PQXYZ33
That's what I thought to, that the eject key no longer worked. Hold it down (instead of just tapping it) and it works.Monday, March 19 2007 @ 11:17 PM PDT
Eject key doesn't work after update - MacGuffin
The hell it does. I've tried tapping, holding, swearing, ...nothing works. In fact, a large, Dashboard-like image of the "eject" icon appears like the Ghost of Christmas Past on my screen, only to disappear...with the disk still in place.I read that this was "modified" because users were accidentally hitting the button. I have a PowerBook, which means that my "eject" button is the uppermost, right-hand button--hardly in danger of being engaged accidentally!
Nice job, Jobs. :(

You have to hold the Eject key down for a little while. Then it works.Reply to This
