LOL! I thought there was some new optical media being produced, then I realized that this is just a software "solution". You're a total sucker if you buy this.

If you bothered to read the developers blog you would find that this software uses a proprietary method to distribute the data on the disc and includes hidden recovery blocks (think PAR files) to help if the disc does become damaged.

Personally I would still not use optical for archival purposes, but this product is by no means 'snake oil' and the poster of this comment is a troll.
