I've been using this for... years? and right now I have the fastest Mac that exists on my desk... 3 GHz quad core... and it's STILL beach-balling me for screen redraws when I zoom or move around. I just don't get it.

I'd like to so an option to preload the WHOLE planet. I've certainly got the machine, disk and RAM.

I recall moving to openGL or something was discussed long ago...
