Is it me or what?
I gave Media Rage a try on a copy of my iTunes library, made some mass modifications such as converting all tags to v2.4.0 and some other tests. But suddenly I noticed that many files had broken tags: although still in the file, MP3 Rage couldn't find them back and showed no more info about the file, as if no more tag was present. iTunes couldn't acces tag data, either. The tags are still there, with just a few bytes per file changed, and this broke the tags. This occured on seemingly random files, not all. I'd say about 1/10 of them, roughly.

breaks some tags? - pascal-w
Ok, this is indeed related to checking Write Sync-Safe ID3v2.4.I re-did the test with 3.0.1 and this Write Sync-Safe ID3v2.4 options unchecked and no files seem to loose tags now. Setting the Write Sync-Safe on seems to "break" tags.
BTW, the 3.0.1 media_rage file is STILL i386 only:
pascal$ file media_rage
media_rage: Mach-O executable i386

2.4 tags can be problematic, because iTunes does not necessarily support synch-safe tags. if you wrote them out as synch safe, iTunes might not play nicely with them. if you send us a sample file, we can take a look.Reply to This
