Getting the "server closed connection" error?
My new host was just not working with Transmit, even after I paid to upgrade to 3.5.6. New host tech support was stumped, the nice people at Panic (Transmit) were stumped and said in the end that they had another user with the exact same problem. Panic told me this only after several days of trying to work it out after I told them I tried Yummy and Yummy worked without a problem. Apparently the other user also fixed their problem by using Yummy, appreciate them telling me that, if only after the fact.
We had tried OS 10.3.9, OS 10.4.8, batch, queue, using another ISP in another state, powerbooks and macbookpro, CuteFTP8, Cyberduck, we even tried using a PC with WS_Ftp and Filezilla- NOTHING worked. I also bought a new router.
I wish I had read the recent reviews here before I wasted so much time, brain power, hard drive space- not to mention the upgrade fee.
I don't like to put anyone down, but I am posting here so that I can post no stars and bring down the overall rating, the point is to draw attention to another user like me who may not otherwise read the reviews -by looking at the stars.
Transmit was great for 4 years, rock solid, easy to use. If you try the demo version and it works, great, and good luck to you- but if you find yourself here because Transmit stopped working for you, don't pay to upgrade. Try something else. In my case, Yummy works.
And I also dislike the changes from 2.x. I couldn't tell where this version left off when it closed the connection. I couldn't tell the order in which it was downloading directories. The Queue and Batch functions make little sense. The sync doesn't allow you to check file size so if you have a 0kb file, sync figures you have the file.
I am sorry to post so negatively but I lost way too much being loyal to this software. I wouldn't wish it on someone else.

Having DL/UL Problems? Don't Upgrade - tp509
3.6.2 has also been frustrating for me on Tiger. I have used Transmit happily and productively as web developer ever since version 1.x. However, this most recent upgrade takes agonizing amounts of time to get directory listings, constantly reports that the server has closed the connection, returns to "idle" after only partially uploading even small files, then reports a transfer in progress if I try to quit.If 3.6.1 is working for you, save yourself time and frustration by skipping this version.
