Getting the "server closed connection" error? Download Yummy FTP.
My new host was just not working with Transmit, even after I paid to upgrade to 3.5.6. New host tech support was stumped, the nice people at Panic (Transmit) were stumped and said in the end that they had another user with the exact same problem, also fixed with Yummy (later Panic said to turn off passive, but my host said turn on passive, and I had had enough already). We had tried OS 10.3.9, OS 10.4.8, batch, queue, using another ISP in another state, powerbooks and macbookpro, CuteFTP8, Cyberduck, we even tried using a PC with WS_Ftp and Filezilla- NOTHING worked.
As a last resort, I tried Yummy on the demo version. Right out of the box, Yummy downloaded my whole site without a problem. I could see the logs as it downloaded, I haven't even begun to play with all the options.
I had to post this feedback, my first, and like others will RUN to give the people at Yummy my money. Bless you Yummy folks.
