Lynx is a great SEO tool. It's even endorsed by Google for this reason. It shows you what the spiders/indexers see.

An alternative to this is "Lynx Text Web Browser".

LTWB seems to do the same thing, but is only 800 KB. So it's missing something.

SEO tool - Chuck Houpt

Yes, Lynx is a great way to understand how search engines see the world. Thanks for the comment. Below are some of the detailed differences between OSXGNU's Lynx and Lynxlet.

Lynxlet tries to go beyond a standard Unix-style command-line build of Lynx. Lynxlet's goal is to behave as much like a normal browser application as possible, but without distorting the underlying Lynx beyond recognition.

  • Lynxlet differences:
    • Self-extracting disk image, for instant install. No root scripts, or packages needed.
    • Standard browser application launching. Drag and drop files and URLs, preview from Dreamweaver/BBEdit/etc.
    • Lynxlet Favelet allows one-click launching of the current page directly from Safari/Firefox.
    • Automatic UI language selection, based on Mac OS X settings.
    • Contains embedded source code (net-bootstrapping), and is self-building.
    • Universal binary.
  • Lynxlet's embedded Lynx differences:
    • Current stable version of Lynx, with all bug fixes.
    • Supports secure web browsing, with SSL Root certificates.
    • Multi-lingual support for 21 languages.
    • Uses default color option, so text color can be adjusted in Terminal.
    • Embedded Lynx can easily be used from the command line, supporting scripts, remote shell access, etc.
