Version 3.1 appears to have fixed most of the new version blues that are noted in the posts about v 3.0.x.

These guys have done a magnificent job with iBiz by giving users a database that allows us to display an extensive description of the work we have done for a client using the NOTE field together with a table format that wraps the text of the NOTE field within a cell of the table. And it can be really extensive.

It took me less than two hours of fritzing around with table creation in Text Edit to create a table and copy one line of the table into the invoice template so that I got a beautiful listing of the work we have done for clients.

iBiz is one of the few time/billing applications that offers that capability. I know because I have examined about 50 time/billing packages as I needed to replace all of my old OS 9 version of Timeslips with a native OS X app before my legacy machine dies.

And the very reasonable cost of iBiz is incredible when compared with the cost of apps that are basically a time/billing Filemaker datafile. These guys have really got it right!!

I've installed the server with five clients and within a week have gotten my staff up and running with a served time/billing application that is extremely intutitive and easy to use.

In the meantime, I've been able to create a custom invoice template in RTF that lets me replicate 95% of the Timeslips invoice that I used for years. And given the responsiveness of the iBiz folks, I'm sure that within a few months, I'll have a 100% replication of my Timeslips invoice. Both HTML and RTF are available for template creation, and I was thrilled as I am not an HTML programmer. Last year, I asked the folks at Studiometry to create a custom HTML invoice for me for a fee, but they either were unable to replicate our Timeslips invoice or dropped the project as they have not responded to my email inquiries.

Bottom line: I'm blown away with the development of this time/billing package which has become a serious contender in this product segment.

Harold -

I'd really like to hear how you manage to handle retainers within your system. I like iBiz, but have not been able to get it to properly handle/account for advance payments against which I bill my time, and which need to be replenished on a monthly basis. If I use the retainer function, my billing gets screwed up. If I use the billing & payment features, my retainers get screwed up. Timeslips did this for me without my ever having to think about it.

Thanks,
Rob
