I purchased VueScan over a year ago and I have been using it ever since. I have been using the Version Tracker's RSS feed to keep track of when my applications have an update available. As with the rest of the apps I have purchased, I installed the updates for VueScan whenever they were available. One day my copy of VueScan stopped working. It turned out that the licenses for VueScan only cover one year of updates, and I had unknowingly updated too many times. I contacted the author of VueScan to find out how to downgrade back to lasest version for which my license was valid. He told me I would have to buy a new license (another $50) and that he didn't have any archived versions. He has refused to work with me, and he no longer responds to my emails. So now I am out of luck. I am a student and can't afford to keep paying this guy over and over again. It is great that he updates the application regularly, but I was not aware that installing the updates would negate my license without anyway of going back. So be careful about updating because you may be throwing your money away.

USD40 for one year of updates, USD80 for ever - it's pretty clear on his web site.... And another USD40 gets you an upgrade to the upgrade-for-ever pro version anyway. Good luck with finding an older copy, though - somebody is bound to have one backed-up somewhere.Sunday, February 25 2007 @ 03:26 AM PST
