What's so hard about pressing the volume button on the keyboard? It doesn't get in the way of other applications and doesn't use any memory.

You're right if it's just volume you want to adjust. I don't use it because I'm a minimalist too, but look at the screen shots (click the link in the developer's text) - they'll show you what else this little utility can do.

When you´re streaming over Airport Express with Airtunes the Keyboard Sound-Keys didn´t work! Thats why it could be helpful to use such a tool!
