Hi!
I have a MacBook Pro with Intel Core Duo running MACos X 10.4.6 and I have a serious problem. When I try to connect to VPN 4.9.01.0030 via USB Modem or via mobile phone I recieved this error message in the system log:
Reason 422: Lost contact with the security gateway. Check your network connection.
I read in the log that my IP have changed but it didn't work.
Sorry for my English, I'm from spain and I tried to explain my problem as well as I can.
Thanks

You probably need to disable Parallels' network ports (System Preferences / Network / Network Port Configurations).Saturday, March 03 2007 @ 12:11 AM PST

From what I've researched is that this version will not work with Broadband/EVDO connection. It will work via ethernet or wireless connection only. I heard Cisco is working on fixing this.Monday, March 05 2007 @ 07:12 PM PST

Make sure you have the most recent version. I connect via EVDO and use Cisco VPN without a problem.Friday, April 13 2007 @ 05:46 AM PDT

Workaround! - mitsu1
If you disable all the other network devices other than your EVDO modem, then the Cisco client appears to connect stably. Basically, go to System Preferences -> Network, Configure, Show->Network Port Configurations, and uncheck every network port except for the EVDO device. I have a sneaking suspicion that if there are other networks available, the client attempts to verify the network connectivity via one of the other networks (rather than the EVDO/PPP device) and it times out the connection.Sunday, March 18 2007 @ 08:29 PM PDT
Workaround - narrowed the issue down - mitsu1
It appears that the main issue with the VPN client not working with EVDO (or any PPP modem) is NAT. If you have any NAT device active (i.e., using Internet Connection Sharing or Parallels NAT) this VPN client fails if you're using PPP for your internet connection. The workaround, therefore, is to disable any devices using NAT (Internet Connection Sharing and/or Parallels NAT).Monday, March 19 2007 @ 08:50 AM PDT

This did the trick for me. I can now use the Cisco VPN without it disconnecting after 5s with the 422 error. The only port I needed to disable was "Parallels NAT". I'm guessing that the Cisco VPN client detects NAT and will kill the connection to prevent sharing. Perfect.I needed to disable the Parallels NAT and once again, PPP/VPN was fine.
This definitely does work w/ EVDO or in my case, Treo w/ USBModem software

Thank you so very much, Parallels NAT was the problem. Once disabled, my VPN is happy!Wednesday, May 30 2007 @ 06:12 PM PDT
