Amadeus Pro is quite wonderful. The developer deserves full marks for it. Yes, it is true, not only is it one of the best shareware programmes available, it is also one of the most reasonably priced. I have used Amadeus II for a very long time, but the Pro version just knocked my socks off. Of course, it is not a heavy-duty professional programme (it is not intended as such), but its elegant, intuitive interface, full integration with a multitude of plug-ins, and its stability all leave very little to desire, especially if you are into quick yet thorough editing jobs. In certain areas (stability) it is much better than some fully-priced 'monsters.' It is fast and manipulating multiple tracks is easy. After having installed it, it took me just about 15 minutes to look around and then to start working comfortably on a compositional project first laid out in 1984 – a technologically simple, yet musically dense electroacoustic work for which I needed multi-track software. Amadeus Pro is a much welcome addition to the suite of my other editing tools. As someone rightly observed, each programme has certain features the others may lack, or that particular feature may be easier to use then elsewhere. Even so, Amadeus Pro has already made my life as a composer and editor much more pleasant and richer. And let us not forget that it is version 1.0 of Amadeus Pro! Knowing the previous work of the developer, one can easily assume that Amadeus Pro can only get better. FIVE stars, period.
