Long time disappointment

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Over One Year

Recommend Product: NO

I have owned and attempted to use Spring Cleaning in it's many incarnations from 1.0 to 7.0; from Aladin to Allume and have unwisely paid many 'upgrade' dollars. I once naively contacted customer service that having paid many upgrades (at version 5 or 6) they owed me a free upgrade, this was politely refused. I feel the concept is good and always hoped it would deliver, but never. Spring Cleaning has always been slow, cumbersome and needs care in its use to not do damage.
It appears to make money for the company. The software disappears off the radar screen (not actively advertised) and then reappears 'upgraded' and costing everyone who bites more money. A 'good idea' that you don't get to try (trial period) causes people to mistakenly buy sight unseen.
It would be nice to see as a very solid usable product with a fair trial period so folks could evaluate... will it ever happen?
Thanks to the concerns expressed by others, this spurred me to finally write my experiences.

Long time disappointment - robpiya

I ran "secure delete free space" in the spring cleaning application... i thought it would format my disk space, but instead it reduced the hard disk space... i am new to mac osx... is this disk space gone, or can it be recovered?
