Inclusive of Intel chipsets only?

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Have Not Tried

Curious if it's in reference only to the machine, or more to the actual airport card. For example, for my Dual G4 MDD (last before G5s), I purchased an airport extreme card three months ago (long after MacPros were getting their cards - ie, the same card). If it's only a wireless update, then it should work with my card. If it's tied to the Intel chipset, however, they should overtly state that.

Inclusive of Intel chipsets only? - MacAdict4Life

Based on what I've read, you are incorrect. All of the add-on Airport Extreme cards are a standard Airport Extreme card, the same as in the Core Duo Macs. The Core 2 Duo macs use a different airport extreme card. The wireless sniffer KisMAC notes this hardware difference, when they discuss why the level of support currently in KisMAC is different for the new Core 2 Duo Macs then core the Core Duos.

Now the backwards compatibility and swapability of these cards with the older design (the design of all the after-market Airport Extreme cards) is, to the best of my knowledge, unknown.
