In Tiger it's about neck and neck... But.. When I'm running in Panther this absolutely blows away Safari in speed when I use it with CamiTools. But here is why I have to regrettebly stick with Safari and it's slower speed even when I'm running in Panther.

1) Does NOT seem to work with MaxiMice for liguid-smooth gesture page scrolling at all. I will never use any browser for the rest of my life that doesn't support this. If you haven't used MaxiMice for OS X & Safari or scrollability for OS 9 with browsers that were compatible with it before, then you desperately need to. In the future, ALL browsers will do this. You can mock me all you want without even trying MaxiMice, but I've been right about this type of stuff every time. Some of you may recall, I was against Bush and Iraq WELL before "it was cool" and I'm telling you right now... EVERY browser in the future will have a MaxiMice type future for scrolling.

2) Spell checker... I mean, c'mon!!!? I can't believe this is still missing. If I was typing this in Safari right now, I would just hit shift-command-; right now and check my spelling before I send this comment off.

3) The text looks awful in this field as I'm typing... much less readable compared to what I'd see with the text I see when I type into fields with Safari.

All that said... this with CamiTools is so much faster than Safari in Panther... that, when I'm running Panther, I DO actually use this on occasion when I need to pull up stuff quickly. But, without support for Maximice, Spell-checking, etc... I sadly have to stick with Safari as my main browser even when running Panther.... dammit...!!

Blows away Safari in Panther - macnerd10

The new beta version displayed on this page (1.1b) has a spell checker. Took them longer than expected since introducing this in Firefox.
