Difficult? - Martin7

I use Circus Ponies Notebook daily. I only know of only one font preference setting - the one that selects the default font for new text. I am at a loss to understand the reviewer's difficulty with that preference. Is it possible that he is confused - as I am - by standard OS X font control?

I am also at a loss to understand the reviewer's low ratings for support and quality/stability. Circus Ponies Notebook is a stunning piece of work. It may not be for everyone, but it is beautifully executed - and every time I've had a support question I've gotten a quick and accurate reply.

That may be the point

There seem to be no ways for me to tell Notebook what fonts & sizes & styles I want as defaults. I for one have spent much more time than I want changing the color of clipped text so that I can read it. This isn't just irritating, it's actually offensive, given that CoreText has greatly simplified implementing these controls in programs of all type.

I bought 2.4, and upgraded to 3.0. Given the annoyance of actually USING Notebook, I'll be open to an alternative.

I may well BE confused - it's happened before.

However, ALL imported text is a very pale lavendar(?) which I cannot read against the page - and it is extremely annoying that for every text bit I add, I have to bring up the color wheel, select the text, and change it that way.

Since I have to do it EVERY TIME to be able to read (ie, use) anything I add, it becomes a burden pretty fast, as USING it involves adding to it A LOT. *That* makes not being able to tell it to stop, very annoying.

I'm sure it didn't do this when I first bought it.

For me, 2-stars indicates software that has intense problems, bugs, poor execution, or is unintuitive (a combination of several of these).

Notebook has been rock solid for me for several years of daily use. It is a "deep" program that has numerous features and incredible functionality, for what I do.

[ I teach college-level CS, and I use Notebook to create my lectures and other notes - I publish the lectures and pdf versions to the course web site for my students to access. Notebook is stunning, when coupled with OmniGraffle Pro (to create drawings, graphics, etc.)! ]

I rate this 5-stars for all these reasons and much, much more. I don't understand the complaint about setting fonts in preferences - there's little to set there.

Some of NoteBook's features do take quite some mastering, but WOW! What a program! The longer you work with it, and the more you read, and re-read the manual, the more you find it can replace any other PIM application, Bookmarks app, diary, etc. etc .

Best of all, the program's author is easy to contact, and really supportive.

This application helps me run two thriving businesses - I would be lost without it!

Bookmarks app - ydezeci_719

Interesting. How do you use NB as a "bookmark app"?
Thanks
