VERY ANNOYING

Feedback Type:  Review

Contributed by: Cowicide Saturday, January 20 2007 @ 05:46 AM PST

Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Less than a month

Recommend Product: NO

Without warning it installs a pref pane... thx, I really need yet another pref pane... especially when the ONLY option in the pref pane is to register it and have it check for updates daily, weekly or monthly (whether you want it to or NOT!!!) I am removing this trojan from my machine. You do NOT treat Mac users like this, we expect better.

VERY ANNOYING - deejemon

Hang on, when did they announce the PrefPane = trojan thing? I'm normally pretty good with keeping on top of issues, but I must have missed that tech briefing. I'm a little worried now because there are 20-something trojans in my System Preferences. And there's one where the only thing it does is change my display settings and doesn't *seem* to do anything else. And one which all it has is a button to update my "software", which is even less than the DivX panel - how suspicious is that, and who knows what it's doing invisibly behind the scenes. Do the McAfee or Norton products pick it up? In fact, I think it's probably best if I turn my computer off now before it leaks my credit card over the net, so I better sign off now...

nice try but you can now stop trying to be sarcastic. for many mac users there is actually a difference if apple, the creator of your hard- and software installs pref-panes or if any random third party company with a long windows history does so. who do you trust more? ah, thought so...

I really prefer to read some good written sarcasm than "shouting loud mouth withouth really trying to go deeper" as lately happens in these and other forums...

Maybe the internet gave some too much freedom to some people...

Prefpane doesn't = trojan. App that installs prefpanes (and who knows what else) without warning you=trojan. Seems pretty strraightforward to me.

PPL who work at Divx - Cowicide

Clicked the hell out of "not helpful"... but it doesn't change the fact that this thing will phone home whether you like it or not. Sorry, we are MAC USERS.. and we don't expect that kind of LOSER CRAP from our Devs. Now go jerk around some Windows users... they don't mind.

Do not pretend to speak for all Mac users.
