Sorry, i love the concept. But it doesn't integrate at all with iPhoto. I have spent years adding the very same meta date you want to us to add to your app, to make these connections happen. I can do nearly the same thing with iphoto buy simply being meticulous with the the data i have already added. I have no inclination to do it twice, even though i think your idea sounds promising.
I'm am no layman, i have spent the last 16 months cataloging images for the federal government, and after 30 secs in your app, I had no patience. Drag and drop is not the best way to classify hundreds or thousands of images.
Time line idea 4 stars
drag and drop stand alone app with no iPhoto integration, hell it doesn't even see iPhoto albums. Zero

Hi:Actually, there is a Media Browser (Window --> Show Media Browser) that lets you visually inspect the contents of your iPhoto library, Aperture library and the Pictures folder. By default, photos and other media imported into MemoryMiner are done by reference (i.e. a database link is made to the files in question). The information about the photos (aka "metadata") is stored in a database. You can optionally create a "self-contained" library whereby the photos and other attached media is copied into the MemoryMiner library document for use on another machine.
All that said, the intention of MemoryMiner is provide a means to get at the story that exists in a photo. It does this through the many annotations that you can make on your photos. You can do batch association of place and people by making multiple selection in the contact sheet view, then drag and drop people and places on to the selection.
You might want to have a look at these screen movies that show different aspects of the software such as the Media Browser, GEDCOM file import, web export, etc.

There is also the new MemoryMiner Annotation Web Service which lets you enlist the help of others in annotating photos. They do the work through a secure web application, and their annotations are automatically retrieved to your desktop library;
