I just don't know. I bought a USB 2.0 phone to use with this. It works "OK" with Skype but none of the buttons on the phone work and all the drivers were for windows, the box reads mac osx also. Maybe if I buy in time the buttons on the phone will work. Yeah fat chance. Gizmo sounds much better on this phone. I guess I just need to do some reaseach. It's just so hard to research on the web for the Mac cause everything is about/for that crap ass bill gates windows trash. Skype was made for windows first just like everything else is. You feel like everything is hand me downs. I feel dirty, cheap, and used.

Yeah, I just had the same thing with a handset promising to be suitable for macs as well as PC's. I'm still holding out hope that somewhere there are generic drivers for such things, but no luck so far!

It's pretty dopey to criticize software by complaining that you can't get drivers for some hardware to work with it.

The only feature in the Windows version that isn't here is the ability to bet "Skype broadcasts," but it's no big deal.

I Don't know - xkont

I got a "free" skype phone with my adsl line (here in Greece) and found out that almost every vendor (if you check it out you'll find that there are not any really brands but renames of a couple of Asian manifactures) gives "Mac Support" via SkypeMate (http://www.nexotek.com/media_assets/software_downloads/SkypeMate_mac.zip)

But for me... it's a total waste of time or even a total crap... it opens, skype asks you if you want to let this app to take control over it and voila! nothing happens!
After a couple of seconds or if you try to move the slide bar for voice imput volume... gee! it crashes (silently thank god!)

...and there you are! tried your crap and feel like you discribed it perfectly... and it's FREE! no need to pay for this total crap! just dow'd it and crash it!

Thank Steve Jobs.... at least MacOSX without ANY driver or crapy app recognizes these "phones" as -USB audio devices-

But, what to you need a "skype phone" to hold on? I use my bluetooth headset with a bluetooth usb stick and I got my hands free to type o grab my coffee....

I Don't know - welcome--2008

Hey xkont, 1.000 thanks to you! After several months experimenting with different USB mikes, I gave up trying to get Skype to work at all. But yesterday I followed your advice, and bought a cheap Bluetooth headset to test it. And it works both in and out!! Not a clear nice sound, but at least it's a working solution. My wallet is going to be much happier thanks to you.
