I will not take credit for this. The fix is found on the Meteorologist sourceforge page.
1. Download the latest version of Meteorologist.
2. Place it in your Application folder.
3. DO NOT launch Meteorologist.
4. Launch the Terminal application.
5: Paste in the following line:
sudo curl http://lns.kicks-ass.net/temp-shit/weather.xml -o /Applications/Meteorologist.app/Contents/Resources/weather.xml
6. Hit enter.
7. Launch Meteorologist and the city editor should now work fine.
I have tested this solution and it works. Thank God! Meteorologist is one of those must have little apps in my menu bar!

okay, got a question: what if i launched Meteo before i read your tip? i did, then i read your tip, quit Meteo via the Activity Monitor, trashed the prefs file (in ~/Library/Preferences), applied your tip and launched Meteo, but Meteo's still not finding my city whether i search for cityname, state or the zip code. i've tried pasting in my citie's URL from weather.com as the dialog suggests too - no go. waaaahhhh.thanks in advance...
