Product Platform: MacOSX
Used Product For: Over One Year
Recommend Product: NO
Program does not recogonize my Epson 2450 scanner anymore. Hitting preview or scanner buttons produces waits of 5 minutes and no scanned item. From a truly great program has become useless in one update. I cannot recommend vuescan anymore after 7 years of quality workmanship. I needed my scanner for a major photo scanning assignment and I just got royally taken and I cannot find an older version of the program to complete my work.

suggestion to developer to post recent versions - balancedview
One practice to request of developer, as result of the posting:Please post several of your recent versions.
I know that many software developers maintain a page of links to a number of their previous versions for just such situations -- where a 'latest update' introduced some compatibility issues. In some cases the other developers make note of the major differences, such as: this version for OSX 10.2.x, or 10.3.0-10.3.8, etc.
Kudos to those developers who maintain live links to previous versions, in order to provide service value to their customers.

Same here. 2450 works like it always has with VueScan. Delete Prefs and do all the usual 'cause it ain't just VueScan.Wednesday, January 10 2007 @ 09:53 AM PST
Backups, maybe? - Krioni
"major photo scanning assignment"You use VueScan as a mission-critical piece of software and have NO backups of previous versions? That's kinda crazy. I don't use my scanner that often, and I have copies of VueScan disk images covering the last couple years.
Really need an old version? Have you even tried to contact the developer for help? Not a very helpful review - more a review of your own risky business IT methods. What if that hard drive failed - you'd have no backup of anything?
