Product Platform: MacOSX

Used Product For: Have Not Tried

This is the one thing I was worried about when I heard Apple was switching over to Intel processors. That companies would start developing ONLY for Intel. Programmed obscolescence for the 'ole PPC. It's a shame Adobe had to start the trend.

Well I wouldn't be too worried because eventually you and everyone else will all have Intel Mac's.

I know just what you mean. Nearly all new apps don't work on my PowerBook 100, either. It's not only a shame, it's a disgrace and we should sue!

i heartily agree, it is a great shame that Adobe, of all companies, is the first to start creating Intel ONLY apps, and that is while ()% of mac users are still running poerfectly good Power PC machines :(

The end begins - Billsey

Not everyone can afford to spend hundreds, if not in fact thousands, of dollars on a new machine when the one they have works just fine. Believe it or not, most people—even in the United States—do not make management/executive level wages. Probably more than 90% do not. Some people actually have to watch what they spend, because they aren't playing with monopoly money. Ridiculing them will neither change their status nor make you look any better for having done so. If you disagree with this assessment, maybe you should get your head out of your backside and start seeing reality instead of insulting people.

The secret of contentment - MacOO7

I would like to add the comment that many people who don't make upper class incomes often do one of two things:

1) They work harder to raise their status so they can afford the newest technology.

2) They don't work harder to raise their status and are content to use what works. When what they're using finally bites the dust they buy used equipment that's available. I have yet to see the used tech sector go out of business. ;-)

In either case these folks don't complain about companies moving forward. It's a fact of life and they accept that. Not only that but they are also quite content because they know life is short.

If you can't afford to buy an Intel Mac, don't buy one. If there were no Intel Macs. this software wouldn't be available in the first place. So if you want to stick with your current software, and your current toolset, which currently works for you, then so be it.

If you want to keep current, it means spending money. If you are willing to settle with what you have, as long as it works for you, then, it costs nothing now doesn't it? Sometimes we all can't just get our way, and thats how it is. Adobe has decided that newly introduced products, that weren't ever developed on the PPC platform, are not going to be released for PPC. We'll have to live with that, and Adobe will have to live with the reduced sales because of it as well. But other than that, we're not entitled to anything. There are plenty of other developers willing to still develop excellent software products that are Universal. Reward them with your business.
