It seemed like a good idea for a split second, then I realized that this will require having the application on every mac you send the file to, and it also requires trusting that the developer will keep updating it for future OS versions; if not, the movies and images will be useless.
Then it hit me that simply putting the movie or the image or a whole bunch of them in an encrypted disk image, is not only a free solution, but I can be sure that every mac can open the files, and I can also be sure that I will be able to open them in the future.
