After hours of connection, the app bounces in the dock with a note saying it cannot connect to the Internet. Once I tried quitting and relaunching and that worked, but it didn't have this problem in previous versions.
The day I downloaded there was a comment about this in the feedback area. Not there now.

Re: happens even with prior version - CNET TechTracker Staff
As described in responses to original posts, this was a server issue that has since stabilized.
Please note that we do not arbitrarily yank comments -- some users post and then, upon discovering their issue has been resolved, will go and remove the post themselves.

Re: 4.2.2 loses connection to Internet - CNET TechTracker Staff
Hello,In the process of increasing the capacity of the VersionTracker Pro servers, we experienced some bumps this weekend which appeared to some subscribers as connection problems in the VersionTracker Pro application. Please re-start VersionTracker Pro and see if this error clears. If it does not, TechTracker Support will need to assist you in troubleshooting. (Possibilities would include proxy or firewall configurations.) TechTracker Support can be reached via e-mail at: support@techtracker.com

happens even with prior version - Marty.Skinner
I've been getting the same thing more and more lately over the last 3 weeks. I'm still running 4.2.1 so it's not limited to just the update.I bet it's on their server's end -- perhaps they don't have the needed capacity to handle all the connections coming back to check for updates, or some other backend issues.
If you don't respond to the dialog window that appears when this happens, over time many, many of the dialogs will appear and each have to be dismissed.
I fully expect that my comment will disappear.
Gotta go now. my VersionTracker icon is bouncing on the Dock again.
/Marty
