Installed on my MacBook Pro and it works great. Only downside is there does not seem to be a plugin for Firefox as yet. I use Safari most of the time so this is no great problem for me. This version of Reader seems to be a great deal faster than v7. I suppose it should be as it is now Intel native. I like the new way the plugin displays documents much nicer than earlier versions. I have not tried v8 on my iMac G5 yet so cannot comment on the PPC version.
