I have been using Adium for a long time to come.
But using Little Snitch, I noticed after clearing my rule set that the latest version connects to a weird address.
The addresses Adium connected to was by1msgXXXXXXX.phx.gbl (X being a digit).
I denied access to this address, but then Adium wanted to connect to another by1msgXXXXXXX.phx.gbl address. And so on.
I gets weirder still when you remember that .gbl doesn't officially exist.

How exactly was his comment malicious? He said it connects to a weird address, not "Oh noes Adium is phoning home!"He'd like to actually know where some of his outbound connections are going. Since you folks know about them all, how about documenting them instead of getting ego-defensive just because someone makes a true statement about the application <3

phx.gbl is related to your MSN account - most likely, specifically, Hotmail email checking. Nothing advertising-related nor malicious whatsoever.-Evan Schoenberg

p.s. This is the first we've heard about your concern; contacting the development team rather than cross-posting an incorrect statement on macupdate and versiontracker would have been helpful to all involved, I think.
