My PowerBook G4 15'' became slow after about 6 Month of usage.
I went for iDefrag. No manual, no handbook, but WTF-RTFM?! :D
Result: My Mac is SLOWER then before!
It takes about a minute to start up (took 20 sec. before using iDefrag) and does not shut down properly anymore: I get that grey error-message box, need to press & hold the powerbutton and get a message upon restart.
Exactly acc. to Apple that existing defragmentation tools may actually slow your machine down by moving files into or out of the “Hot Band”, defeating Panther’s Adaptive Hot File Clustering code.
iDefrag prides itself to be the first defragmentation tool for the Mac that fully supports the Hot Zone, guaranteeing that this is not a problem; thank you but what worth is your "guarantee" if reality shows the opposite = Apple is right!?! :((
Read this before you TRY to use it or even consider BUYING it:

I am glad I did not pay for this piece of crap-code that f'ed up my Mac, else I would be even more upset.
Will have to reformatmy HDD and use a backup to get back to normal operations :((
Thank you Coriolis NOT! :((

A little bit unfair... - chris104
It's possible that the first reboot after using iDefrag will be slow.Mac OS X has a boot cache (that is independent of the hot file zone) that speeds booting. That can be made out of date if you defragment your volume.
Mac OS X will automatically rebuild the boot cache, but users may notice the first reboot after defragmenting is slow.
You might ask why we don't update the boot cache. Well, there's no point really when Mac OS X will do it. It's not like the hot file zone which will take a long while to rebuild.
Anyway, it's worth pointing out that it's best to contact us first if you think iDefrag isn't doing what you think it should.

Chris, I think it is YOU who is being unfair to your customers. My PowerBook never came back to normal operation after using iDefrag. Today (1 month passed) I finally had the time to reformat and reinstall my Computer. iDefrag costed me time and nerves and made things worse, instead of improving anything.Apple is right: better backup and restore your disks content then using ANY Defragmentation tool.
Still: Happy Holidays to all of you! :)

We still don't seem to have received any support e-mail from this customer (although it's possible a different name was used). If it's a problem with iDefrag, we'd very much like to get to the bottom of it.
I will say that we haven't had any other reports of iDefrag doing this, but that's not to say it's definitely not iDefrag at fault.

"Did not pay"? - GNJ
Curious -- the demo can't do what you claim.Did a friend/owner help you out -- then leave you hanging?
Did you buy, then get a refund?
Just what/ how were you using, anyway?

WARNING! - S.Pellegrino
for the sake of fairness I want to add to my previous post:The Errors describes yesterday DID occur after I i-defragged my HD. Today things work "normally" again. I did not do anything to fix things like using DiskTool. Apparently MacOSX is clever enough to rebuild itself and repair whatever went wrong during defragmentation.
So things work fine again, but there is no difference that I could "feel" compared to how things ran before I used this software.
