Any word processer that allows me to dump MS Word is welcomed. However, we are legal professionals in need of features that Mellel doesn’t offer and doesn’t seem interested in offering.
Lawyers need footnotes, line numbering along the sides of documents, and 24 lines per page documents. Mellel calls itself a professional word processor, but it’s only real claim to fame is that is is cheaper than MS Word.
Mellel

To say that it's only claim to fame is being cheaper than MS Word is totally ignorant. It would be hard to believe that you've ever even looked at their web site, let alone used the app.Thursday, November 16 2006 @ 09:07 AM PST

Hi, I'm one of the developers of Mellel: Your judgement, Brass Hammer, seem to be a bit harsh, especially considering the fact that two of the three options you wish to see in Mellel are already in it.Thursday, November 16 2006 @ 05:55 PM PST

I missed the part where Mellel advertised itself as the ultimate solution to your legal office needs.Wednesday, December 06 2006 @ 08:22 AM PST
Not Ready (for who?) - it's only me
Check his/her posts and you will see that Brass Hammer makes bitter negative comments on shareware programs. Unfortunately he/she has a big chip on their shoulder. Mellel was not designed for paralegals who have to crank out their employer's work on a daily basis. Therefore it may not be perfect for everyone. btw, it was originally designed for use by linguists and other academics.Wednesday, December 20 2006 @ 01:55 PM PST
