I am impressed with Bookpedia, but am disappointed that the developer has chosen to segregate library apps by media. I mean, does it really make sense to have a separate app for CDs, games and DVDs? I want my library to be integrated on the computer even if it is or isn't in real life. I am not complaining about the price of buying all 4 apps; I am complaining about the loss of functionality and inconvenience associated with separate apps. And no, it is not superior because it allows the user to only pay for what he or she wants. That's easily solved. Even Intelliscanner offers a front-end to its separate apps. But as near as I can tell, only Delicious Library truly integrates the multimedia approach. One thing I can do with DL that I cannot do with BP is to look at what titles are repesented in books, DVDs, videotapes and even games at the same time. Am I missing something that the *pedia apps offer here?
Why separate apps for every media? - Conor Dearden
Although the Pedias are separate applications, they do have some integration between them, and we are always improving and making that easier. You can link a Bookpedia book to a DVDpedia movie, for example. Sure you're using two programs but clicking on the link will take you directly to the other program with the related entry highlighted. Take a look at this page for more info: http://www.bruji.com/howto/links.htmlThe main reason the apps are separate is because we want them to be good at what they do - if you have large collections then putting them all together into one app will mean a slower program and less specialized features. It also allows us to keep the price low for users who are only interested in one application.
