Seems to break OpenOffice - cal_rt

Yes, I have the exact same problem. GIMP and Inkscape work fine though. Meh, I'm just going to revert to an older version.

Seems to break OpenOffice - brianallenlevine

Hi,

Which version(s) of OpenOffice are folks finding breaking in this fashion? And are we talking PPC or Intel flavors?

I"m wondering if I should upgrade my X11 1.1 to this latest X11 1.1.2. I'm running OpenOffice 2.0.4 PPC and it's working alright as is with X11 1.1. The only things I can't get to work at all are keyboard shortcuts. Keyboard shortcuts work just fine for me in other applications like GIMP and GnuCash.

Thanks,

--Brian

Hi,

Well, I went ahead and did the update. Thankfully, OpenOffice 2.0.4 PPC is still running fine for me. There aren't any stalls on startup.

I should probably clarify about which OpenOffice keyboard shortcuts aren't working for me. The CTRL- shortcuts are working fine. The ones I can't get to work are the more general purpose Alt- shortcuts that activate the application's pull-down menus. I'm certainly open to suggestions with regard to how to get these Alt- shortcuts working in OpenOffice.

Thanks!

I have the problem using an Intel mac with the intel version of openoffice 2.0.4. It worked just great up until the new version of x11 came out. I saw that people said they reverted back to the old version of x11, but as silly as this sounds can not find that anywhere online. If someone has a link that would be great.

What I did to install the older X11 was delete the preferences file it creates in the Library> Preferences folder then trash the app itself. Then I restarted and got the older X11 back from the Mac OS X Tiger installation DVD that came with my Mac. Trying to install a newly downloaded version might not work – when I tried it I got two outcomes:

1) The pkg file would detect the prefs file in the Library directory and cancel the install

2)After deleting the prefs file, when opening the pkg file of the 2003 X11 I downloaded from Apple's website an error would occur whilst trying to install (this is why my only option was to install from the DVD).

Hope this solves it; if you don't have the installation DVD anymore then I cannot suggest another option I'm afraid....

In the end I took francescomaura's advice installed NeoOffice, which is native to OSX and is a much less traumatising experience :P I'm going to update to the new X11 now, I might as well ;)

I've had the same problem. A possible solution: you might trash openoffice and install neooffice instead. This way you could reopen all your openoffice files.

Please all upgrade to the latest version of X11 as that has fixed the problem of OpenOffice.org starting.

Regarding the alt key to activate the menu for pulling them down, I believe this has been disabled on the Mac as it is not Mac like (All in preparation for Aqua).
