Still some problems with this app that make it not worth playing. I just played with the questions downloaded from the online source, and it asked the same question three times in one game (How many countries on the continent of Australia). Just annoying. Also, it works way too slowly on my G4 1.25 GHz 20" iMac running 10.4.8 with 768 MB of RAM.

Same question asked repeatedly in one game - jonn8n

Did you try the included game files? There are over 50 high quality games included on the disk image. These load much more quickly than using the online option and are of a superior quality to the questions found online (those come from a database that allows anyone to post -- in any language -- without vetting the questions at all). In addition, there is a game editor so you can create your own games.

Still, there is code in the application that tries to limit pulling the same question from the online repository (the online database randomly supplies questions; if the same question is supplied, GeoParty! keeps asking for more questions until it has 61 unique questions).

Sometimes the online repository has several questions that are essentially the same but, because of extra spacing, bad punctuation, etc., are not identified as duplicates when downloaded. There is really no way for GeoParty! to know that these questions are the same and this has to do with the democratic nature of the online repository. The solution, of course, is to use the local games.

With more people creating and submitting game files for inclusion with the distribution, the better the overall experience will be. With the high quality game files, though, I should think that this might warrant a higher rating, especially considering the price (free!).
