I originally rated this software four stars; I'm going to have to revise that rating. FanControl has a few problems that need to be addressed before I give it another try:
1. The installer drops a PackageMaker project file called "Untitled.pmproj" at the root of the boot disk after installing. That's pretty minor though.
2. The installer requires a reboot. I don't get it. Why can't it use the SystemStarter script to directly launch the startup item?
3. Most seriously, the background task that FanControl launches is constantly using the CPU even when it's doing nothing. This is a fairly serious problem because it wastes battery power.

Has several problems - Lobotomo Software
Hi,thanks for the comment - the first two points have been fixed in the new installer available for download (no software changes hence still version 1.1).
Could you elaborate on the third point, though? I can't see any CPU usage (and in fact, the control loop is called every 5 seconds, doing little to nothing...
